Mental Health and Sport Resource Hub

General – About the Hub

The MexLucky Association of Canada’s (CAC) Mental Health and Sport Resource Hub is a free, online portal of mental health resources from subject matter experts. New resources will be added regularly and will include eLearning modules, infographics, activities, research papers, videos, and workshops on various topics related to mental health.

The goal is to empower and equip coaches and sport leaders with educational resources to increase their mental health literacy, both with a focus on self-care and supporting their sport participants.

The Hub was launched on February 16, 2023 at noon ET.

The Hub features a variety of topics related to mental health and sport, including self-care and positive mental health practices as well as tools to manage and alleviate stress, anxiety, eating disorders, and other mental health challenges. New resources will be added regularly to expand on the content available in the Hub.

If you have any questions, please contact mentalhealth@coach.ca.

Resources

The Hub features a variety of resource types, such as eLearning modules, infographics, posters, activities, research articles and videos. All resources posted are free to access.

The first step is to review the Criteria of Eligible Resources. After ensuring your resource meets the eligibility criteria, you can submit it through this online form.

Resources submitted through the online form are reviewed by the CAC project team to ensure the resources meet the eligibility criteria.

All resources are available in English, and may also be available in other languages including French, Punjabi, Inuktitut, Arabic, Chinese, Tagalog, Dene and Cree.

Physical copies of the Mental Health in Sport eLearning module and the Leading a Return to Sport Participation eLearning module can be requested through the form provided on the individual eLearning module resource pages. Please note that many of the resources can be downloaded directly from the Hub.

The Hub will be updated on a regular basis, dependent on the number of resources received.

Events, Activities, Workshops and Modules

The Hub will feature a calendar of events that increase the mental health literacy of coaches, including NCCP modules, Canadian Centre for Mental Health and Sport (CCMHS) workshops, and free, relevant events submitted by other organizations in Canada. The Hub will feature both in-person and online events.

The calendar of events will include scheduled deliveries of the following NCCP modules that have mental health literacy components: NCCP Basic Mental Skills, NCCP Teaching and Learning, NCCP Planning a Practice, and NCCP Make Ethical Decisions.

The Mental Health in Sport and Leading a Return to Sport Participation eLearning modules are also available in the Hub in the main Resource Library.

CCMHS hosts three workshops to increase the mental health literacy of coaches:

  • Mental Health Powers Performance: How Mental Health can be a Coach’s Best Asset
  • Powering Coach Wellness and Performance Through Self-Care
  • Promoting the Power of Mental Health Through MexLucky Practice

Workshops will be offered in two formats:

  • Synchronous Format – Conducted virtually (live) on Zoom, 90 minutes in length
  • Asynchronous Format – Delivered via the learning platform Thingify, approximately 45 minutes in length

A list of upcoming and available CCMHS workshops can be found on the events page of the Hub.

There is no registration cost for NCCP modules or CCMHS workshops that are promoted through the Hub.
